  • Tillamook Bay Watershed Physical Habitat Study
Demeter Design has developed and implemented an aquatic habitat monitoring and assessment program for the Tillamook Bay Watershed. This project utilized and extended the core statistical procedures and field protocols developed by the EPA under the Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Program. The report above represents the results and conclusions of a two year, detailed assessment of current condition. A monitoring program utilizing a stratified, rotating panel design will build upon the results of this initial assesment. This project was conducted under contract to the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership.

  • Tillamook River Limiting Factors Analysis and Coho Restoration Plan
Demeter Design has developed a site specific restoration plan for the Tillamook River Watershed based on project specific field surveys, available data on aquatic habitat, salmonid abundance, water quality, fish passage, and land management practices. This project was conducted under contract to the Tillamook Bay Watershed Council.

  • Netarts Bay Watershed Habitat Study, Limiting Factors Analysis, and Restoration Plan
Demeter Design has developed a site specific restoration plan for the Netarts Bay Watershed based on project specific field surveys, available data on aquatic habitat, salmonid abundance, water quality, fish passage, and land management practices. As a component of this project, Demeter Design is collecting a comprehensive dataset on aquatic and riparian habitat. This project was conducted under contract to the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership.

  • North Fork Siuslaw Sediment and Habitat Assessment
Prepared for the Siuslaw Watershed Council to support TMDL development. Demeter Design completed a sediment and physical habitat assessment to support Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL ) development efforts in the Siuslaw River Watershed. Comprehensive data on physical habitat has been collected and analyzed using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) protocol and a suite of statistical procedures. This project is being conducted under contract to the Siuslaw Watershed Council.

  • East Fork Nehalem Watershed Assessment
Demeter Design provided data analysis, reporting, and editing services to support the completion of the East Fork Nehalem Watershed Assessment. Our firm had primary responsibility for the production of the final Watershed Assessment. This involved synthesis of existing data, project specific watershed analysis, and coordination with multiple project partners. This project was conducted under contract to the Upper Nehalem Watershed Council.

  • Necanicum Base Maps
Prepared for the North Coast Land Conservancy. Demeter Design developed a comprehensive set of base maps for the Necanicum Watershed. This entailed the collection of all available GIS data for the basin, synthesis and analysis of that data, and the production of publication quality cartographic products. The primary goal of this project was to support restoration, conservation, and outreach efforts by the North Coast Land Conservancy (NCLC) and the Necanicum Watershed Council. This project was conducted under contract to the NCLC. Additionally, Demeter Design provides ongoing cartographic services to the NCLC on a project specific basis.

  • Tillamook Bay Watershed Data Synthesis and Outreach Prioritization
Demeter Design synthesized all available data on aquatic and riparian habitat, historical land use, water quality, fish abundance, and anthropogenic disturbance in order to prioritize 7th field sub watersheds for land owner outreach, restoration, and conservation. Over the course of this project, Demeter Design developed the Computational Ecological Restoration Prioritization (CERP) process. CERP provides a flexible tool for clients to identify and prioritize specific geographic areas based on their unique needs. This project was conducted under contract to the Tillamook Bay Watershed Council.

  • Holden Creek Riparian Restoration Project Report
Prepared for Tillamook Head Start and the City of Tillamook. Demeter Design provided project design and project management for an urban restoration project within the City of Tillamook. The primary goal of this project was to design and implement an invasive weed control program for a city owned property. This project entailed designing and implementing a riparian planting project and weed control measures including the selection and supervision of subcontractors. This project was completed under contract to Tillamook Head Start and the Oregon Department of Education with the City of Tillamook as Partners.

  • Nestucca River Watershed 2007 Ambient Water Quality and Physical Habitat Study
Demeter Design conducted a sediment and physical habitat assessment on BLM managed land in the Nestucca River Watershed. Comprehensive data on physical habitat was collected and analyzed using the EPA’s EMAP protocol and a suite of statistical procedures. The primary goal of this study was to understand and evaluate habitat and water quality impacts on BLM managed land. Additionally, a technical guidance document was developed to assist federal land managers in assessing impairment by fine sediments. This project was conducted under contract to the BLM.
  • Brownlee Subbasin Watershed Assessment and Pine Valley Restoration Opportunities Report - Demeter Design is working with the Powder Basin Watershed Council to complete a watershed assessment for the Brownlee Reservoir Subbasin and to develop a restoration plan for Pine Valley.

  • Salem Oregon Watershed Restoration Plan - Demeter Design is working with the Mid-Willamette Alliance to conduct habitat surveys on three major streams that flow through the City of Salem, Oregon.

  • North and Middle Fork John Day Data Synthesis - Demeter Design is working with the North Fork John Day Watershed Council to implement the CERP process and identify areas for future restoration, conservation, and outreach.

  • Big Elk and Indian Creek Sediment & Physical Habitat Assessment - We are conducting a sediment and physical habitat assessment to support Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL ) development efforts in the Midcoast region. Comprehensive data on physical habitat will be collected and analyzed using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) protocol and a suite of statistical procedures. This project is being conducted under contract to the Siuslaw Watershed Council.

  • John Day Sediment & Physical Habitat Assessment - Demeter Design is conducting a physical habitat assessment of the John Day basin and collecting reference data within the greater Blue Mountain Ecoregion. Comprehensive data on physical habitat will be collected and analyzed using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) protocol and a suite of statistical procedures. This project is being conducted under contract to the Bureau of Land Management.

  • Tillamook Bay Watershed Sediment & Physical Habitat Assessment & Trask Intensively Monitored Watershed Study - Demeter Design is conducting a sediment and physical habitat assessment in the Tillamook Bay Watershed. Comprehensive data on physical habitat was collected in 2007 using the EPA’s EMAP protocol. A second round of data collection will occur this year after which the data from both years will be analyzed and reported. This project is being conducted under contract to the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership. Demeter Design is also providing ongoing technical assistance to the Trask IMW study. Our firm developed a customized sampling plan for the IMW in 2007. Data will be collected within the Oregon Department of Forestry and Weyerhauser IMW in the upper Trask Watershed during year two of the Tillamook Bay Watershed Sediment and Physical Habitat Assessment. A primary goal of the IMW study is to understand and evaluate habitat and water quality impacts related to forestry management. It is anticipated that aquatic and riparian physical habitat assessments will be conducted every two years throughout the Tillamook Bay Watershed indefinitely.
